Do you have a complaint? Don’t sit on it.

1. Discuss your complaint with your midwife

It is important that you feel at ease around your midwife. Because being pregnant is a tense experience on its own. That’s why we’ll do our utmost to guide you and your baby as best as we can. Do you have any questions? Doubts? Are you dissatisfied about something? Please tell us. Preferably as soon as possible but also if it has been on your mind for a while. Together we can talk about it and try to change things rather sooner than later. Maybe we can clear up a misunderstanding. Or make you feel at ease. Or work in a way that feels better for you.

We wouldn’t mind scheduling an extra appointment for you. This way we’ll have enough time to talk. If you find it difficult to have the conversation you can bring someone with you who you trust.

2. Bring in a complaints officer

Would you like to learn more about your rights or would you like advice? Or would you like to discuss your complaint with someone else first? Or would you like someone to help you file a complaint?

Contact the complaints officer in this case.

Complaints officers are impartial. They discuss with you what it is you are dissatisfied about and what it is you’d like to achieve with your complaint. They will advise you on what to do. They also help you to start the conversation with us if that’s difficult for you. Or to write a letter about the complaint. The complaints officer can help you and us to find a solution together. Everything you share with the complaints officer is confidential.

Contact the complaints officer

You can contact the complaints officer via klachtverloskunde.nl.
The midwife will try to deal with your complaint within 6 weeks, together with the complaints officer if necessary. You will receive a message from us telling you what we’ve done with your complaint within this period.

If you cannot reach an agreement with the midwife and the mediation of the complaints officer, you can submit your complaint to the ‘Geschilleninstantie Verloskunde’ (Obstetrics Disputes Committee). This independent body will investigate and assess whether your complaint is justified. It makes a binding decision.

For more information have a look on the website of the
Geschilleninstantie Verloskunde.
